Garden Journaling

Finished! I finally filled my garden diary. 20/4/2016 – 8/11/2022. This diary has been great for remembering what I planted where, and keeping track of seed saving, but also a really good learning tool for me.

Started this diary when we were considering buying a ‘quiet rectangle of land in the middle of nowhere’ as we couldn’t afford to buy where we lived, and we wanted to be able to garden. In the end we decided it was impractical to commute out of town for gardening, and just to make the Quiet Rectangle where we were renting, growing a lot in pots, and sneaking in a few fruit trees.

When our landlords eventually sold up we turned the gardens back into lawn, but the fruit trees were allowed to remain and last time we peeked in it seemed the new owners were looking after them well. Then we bought our own place, a tiny 37m2 indoor space, but enough outdoor space for a decent garden, and chickens! This is where most of the diary was filled.

This year we sold that place and left Auckland behind, and now I have my dream space, a very nearly quarter acre section! I will start the next diary with a nice map of the new place, just in time for spring.
